The 1968 Tigers hold a special place in the hearts of Detroit fans. Featuring a wave of popular players including Willie Horton, Al Kaline, Norm Cash, and Bill Freehan as well as the talented arms of Denny McLain and Mickey Lolich, the Tigers edged the defending champion St. Louis Cardinals in seven games. The victory gave the franchise its first title since 1945. Lolich won Games 2, 5, & 7 and was named MVP.
