On Sept. 27, 1999, Tiger Stadium hosted its final game. A special pre-game ceremony was held with legendary Tigers announcer Ernie Harwell as emcee and the event honored Hall-of-Famer Al Kaline. The Tigers defeated the Kansas City Royals 8-2 thanks in part to a Robert Fick grand slam that landed on the roof.
After the game, Harwell bid farewell to the 88-year-old stadium while old film footage rolled featuring Ty Cobb, Sam Crawford, and other Tigers legends. The pitcher's mound was dug up and transported to Comerica Park. Willie Horton and Sparky Anderson also had a chance to say goodbye and a long list of Tigers greats emerged through the center field gates. This Mini-Mega Ticket commemorates the occasion, is perfect for autographs, and makes a great gift.
