The 1956 New York Yankees faced the challenge of avenging their 1955 World Series loss at the hands of the Brooklyn Dodgers. Led by Yogi Berra, Mickey Mantle, and Don Larsen, the Yankees were successful as they defeated the Dodgers in seven games. Larsen, who threw the only perfect game in World Series history, was named MVP. The victory marked the Yankees 17th World Championship.
