History Tree of 1990's Music Canvas Print
The 1990’s Music Tree is the fourth edition of the four decades of Burton Family Trees of Music. This art typographically gives a historical introspection on everything in Music from 1990-1999. An arresting visual portraiture of the music of the 1990’s! This is a beautiful piece of art doubling as a chronology of all the grunge rock, rap, alternative rock, hip hop, etc. that came out of the nineties music scene. All of the significant bands of the era, from huge acts like Whitney Houston and Nirvana to smaller artists such as David Gray and Semisonic, are represented here. Each band in the tree is arranged in chronological order and sized by significance, with a plethora of fonts and icons used to add distinction to the piece. The Burton Nineties Rock History Tree is a terrific piece of art that will inform and impress. The roots of the 1990s Music Tree showcase two American cities that were of special note during the decade. On the left is Seattle, Washington, featuring the Space Needle and Columbia Center, amongst other buildings. Seattle is the birthplace of grunge rock, the dominant rock form throughout most of the ‘90s, and the city lays claim to some of the biggest acts of the decade, including Nirvana, Pearl Jam and Soundgarden. On the right is Cleveland, Ohio, where the phrase “Rock and Roll” was coined by local DJ Alan Freed, and where the first rock concert, the Moondog Coronation Ball, was hosted. In 1995, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame opened in Cleveland. It is the gorgeous pyramidal structure on the lower right-hand side of the tree. The roots of the Nineties feature the skylines of Cleveland, in honor of the ‘Rock and Roll Hall of Fame’ opening, and Seattle, whose grunge bands were dominant as the decade set the stage for the end of the millennium. This is a digital print of the original lithograph printed on archival canvas and hand wrapped on wooden stretcher bars. AVAILABLE IN TWO SIZES:
