Florida Field at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium is affectionately known as "The Swamp" and one of the toughest places for visiting teams to play. In fact, the Gators assembled a 30-game home winning streak from Oct. 24, 1994, to Sept. 18, 1999.
The original field was dedicated Nov. 8, 1930, in front of a sold-out crowd of 21,769. On Sept. 9, 1989, the stadium was officially named for Ben Hill Griffin Jr., a life-long fan who was very generous to the university. The facility has received many renovations and now has a seating capacity of approximately 90,000.
