FIRST QUARTER Get Up!

Man, there’s nothing like the feeling of being at a live event. It’s a beautiful thing. The deafening roar of the crowd on a big play, the amps mussing up your hair, the floor rumbling from the stomping fans as your favorite band takes the stage – it’s like poetry, only louder and could flat out kick your ass!

Over the years, I’ve been to hundreds of live events all over the United States and overseas. From college and professional sports to must-see music festivals and superstar rock concerts, a big chunk of my time and money has been spent tracking down and executing my next adventure. It’s more of a lifestyle than a hobby.

Now, I’m not a trust fund brat with a pile of disposable income who is living like this. I mean, after all, tickets to the biggest “Sold Out” shows and the best events can be really expensive and hard to get your hands on.

The truth is, I’m just an everyday guy with a run-of-the-mill job who lives paycheck to paycheck like most other wage slaves I know. I just happen to have found a couple of simple ways to beat the Ticket Brokers and Scalpers at their own game, level the playing field, and live the life of a super fan.

WARNING: What you are about to read is real! And it’s a lot easier than you might think. I score great tickets for every event I attend at or below face value. You’re thinking, sure, these must be somewhere in the nose bleed section, right? Wrong. When I go to a live event, I demand to be in the middle of the action. That’s why I only kick it in the premiere seats, without exception. How do I do it? Glad you asked. That’s what this book is all about. Consider this a manual for mayhem, a publication for party people, and ticket trick textbook.

You get the idea. In these pages I’ll show you not only how to get access to the hottest live events, but also how to end up in high-roller territory at bargain-basement prices. Some of the routines you will soon learn require nothing more than a bit of patience and a little faith. Other techniques are a bit trickier and call for a morsel of courage and a dash of craftiness. Some involve down right covert operations and should only be attempted by those hard-core event outlaws and shenanigan experts who are willing to risk eviction from the event if caught. Whatever your risk level is, these strategies will work for any stadium or arena in any city in every state in the country and abroad.

Jump. Go Ahead, Jump.

I’m not ashamed to say it; I’m an old rocker at heart. So when the Van Halen reunion tour with David Lee Roth rolled into town, I used the methods in this book and ended up getting two tickets on the day of the show, lower level just off the floor, eye level with the band, for 33% UNDER FACE VALUE, with NO convenience charges. I also got my girlfriend a ticket in another section for face value as we were walking into the venue, and finagled her down to sit with me. Instead of paying $1050 (the going rate for the tickets I purchased), I paid a grand total of $300 for all three tickets. That’s the way I roll! Needless to say, it was a monster show.

And just so you don’t think that it was a fluke, that same week I sat just off the court for two NBA games for $7.50 each (face value $175 per game) and just off the ice for a NHL game for $14 (face value $90). And I paid nothing for parking at any of the events (which totaled $60). For you math junkies out there, that was a $1,550 value for $329, which is a 79% savings. But enough about me. We’ve got some bands to hear and some games to cheer. So, let’s get to it.
